Could you share some insights into your background and how you came to join GCX?
With over 20 years in sales and marketing within the ICT industry, I’ve had the privilege of working with MNCs like NTT, Dell, Samsung, Huawei, and Singtel, achieving significant milestones in new business acquisition and sales targets. My journey includes a decade in technology sales and client management, followed by regional product management where I grew portfolio values by over 200% in the first 10 years of my career.
I joined GCX after being approached by Soon Yew, who was looking for an APAC BD. The personal rapport we built and GCX’s agile, streamlined work culture attracted me. I appreciate GCX’s focus on client service and growth without the complexities of a large MNC and I believe it is a place where our presence and contribution can make a difference.
What motivates you in your role at GCX, and how do you maintain your inspiration?
The trust and maturity of GCX’s leadership, along with open communication and peer support, are key motivators for me. Regular town halls, Brunch & Learn sessions, as well as all-hands meetings keep us connected and motivated.
How do you approach challenges and overcome obstacles in your work?
When faced with challenges, I’m able to share and seek advice from my APAC Sales leader, Soon Yew, and our APAC Senior Presales, Edmund. Their advice and insights are invaluable, making them my mentors and driving forces.
Despite being remote and scattered globally, our close-knit team fosters strong bonds and meaningful collaboration. The positive outlook and dedication of my peers keep me motivated and focused on our goals.
We also receive quarterly visits from our Global CEO, Lorenzo Romano, which helps to boost morale and confidence, especially with key APAC clients. The management’s proactive approach to new business development is crucial. We operate like a startup but with established structures and systems. How has your role evolved since joining GCX, and how have you grown as a professional?
At GCX, I’ve reconnected with my network and honed my business development skills. The trust and encouragement here allow for entrepreneurial creativity, enabling us to expand our contacts and pitches freely.
What advice would you offer to new employees or those striving to excel in their careers at GCX?
Be open-minded and ask questions when in doubt. GCX encourages independence and responsibility, with strong peer support globally.
