Employee Spotlight #13 – Gianella Parodi, Executive Assistant to the CEO

“I’m especially proud of bringing sustainability into the core of what we do at GCX”.

Could you share some insights into your background and how you came to join GCX?

I originally came from the fashion industry, but I’ve always had a strong curiosity about the tech world. The fast pace, innovation, and global impact of technology fascinated me, and I saw it as a space where I could grow and contribute in new ways. Eventually, the opportunity came up to join GCX, and it felt like the perfect moment to make that leap and challenge myself in a completely different environment.

What motivates you in your role at GCX, and how do you maintain your inspiration?

As the Executive Assistant to the CEO, what truly keeps me motivated is the diversity and dynamic nature of my role. No two days are alike—I have the opportunity to work closely with different teams across departments and contribute to a wide range of initiatives. This constant variety keeps the work engaging and continuously challenges me to grow and adapt.

What’s especially inspiring is my involvement in our sustainability efforts. It’s incredibly fulfilling to play a part in driving meaningful change and helping GCX become a more responsible, forward-thinking organization. Being able to support initiatives that have a real environmental and social impact gives my work a deeper sense of purpose and keeps me inspired every day.

Is there a specific project or achievement at GCX that you are particularly proud of?

I’m especially proud of bringing sustainability into the core of what we do at GCX. Since 2023, we’ve made great strides in embedding sustainable practices into our operations, and I had the privilege of capturing all these efforts in our newly launched Sustainability Report. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how far we’ve come and to share those achievements with the wider world.

How do you approach challenges and overcome obstacles in your work?

Challenges are a constant in my role, and I’ve learned to see them as opportunities for growth. I approach them with a positive mindset and focus on finding solutions rather than dwelling on the problems. I also try to stay calm and flexible, which really helps when things don’t go as planned. Teamwork and open communication play a big part in resolving issues quickly and effectively.

What role do your colleagues and team members play in your success at GCX?

My colleagues have been instrumental to my journey at GCX. Collaboration is a big part of what makes our work successful, and I’m constantly learning from the people around me. Whether it’s brainstorming ideas, supporting each other during crunch times, or simply sharing knowledge, I genuinely believe that the collective effort of the team is what drives individual success.

Are there any mentors or individuals who have had a significant impact on your career here?

Yes, Carl Grivner has had a huge influence on my career at GCX. He’s always believed in my potential and has consistently challenged me to step outside my comfort zone. Those challenges have helped me grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I’m grateful for his support and guidance—it’s made a lasting impact on both my confidence and professional development.

How has your role evolved since joining GCX, and how have you grown as a professional?

My role has evolved significantly since I joined. I’ve taken on more responsibilities and become involved in areas of the business that I hadn’t touched before. One of the biggest changes has been how sustainability has grown from a side interest into a key part of our strategy. It’s no longer just a project—it’s embedded in our business-as-usual activities, and that shift has really broadened my perspective and sharpened my strategic thinking.

What advice would you offer to new employees or those striving to excel in their careers at GCX?

Stay curious and don’t be afraid to ask questions. GCX is full of opportunities, but you have to be proactive in seeking them out. Be open to learning from others, embrace change, and don’t shy away from challenges—they’re where the real growth happens. Most importantly, build strong relationships across the business. Collaboration and trust are key to success here.
