“My team plays a significant role in my growth. They patiently explain why things are done in a specific way and always address my queries. In fact, they encourage me to ask questions, reminding me that “no question is a silly question.”
Could you share some insights into your background and how you came to join GCX?
I have an MBA in Finance and had the opportunity to be an exchange student in Spain for a full semester during the first year of my MBA. The foreign exchange experience was truly fulfilling, as it went beyond academics. I learned to adapt to different cultures and lifestyles, which was invaluable.
During my master’s degree, I became inclined toward the analysis and strategy side of business through case study competitions and similar coursework. I realised that I enjoy research and data interpretation—reading between the lines.
I joined GCX as a Management Trainee with a curious mind and a willingness to learn. I was drawn to the business because it offers a perfect blend of technology and commercial aspects. This allows me to understand both the product and its commercial impact simultaneously.
What motivates you in your role at GCX, and how do you maintain your inspiration?
What motivates me is knowing that pricing influences critical business outcomes such as revenue, margin, and customer value. I also enjoy working cross-functionally, which helps me build strong relationships across teams.
There is always something new to learn about how my team helps win deals and stay competitive. This constant learning fuels my curiosity and keeps me inspired.
Is there a specific project or achievement at GCX that you are particularly proud of?
A project I am especially proud of is developing a Power BI dashboard that consolidates data from multiple in-house systems, transforming complex information into clear, actionable insights. It has been exciting to see how this tool helps the business make smarter, faster decisions that ultimately create better outcomes for our customers.
How do you approach challenges and overcome obstacles in your work?
One of the main challenges I have faced is learning technology and technical terminology, as I come from a non-technical background. To overcome this, I adopted two methods:
- Firstly, self-study:
I break product-related terms into smaller components and try to understand their commercial impact by asking questions.
- Secondly, learning from experts:
I attend overview sessions with the relevant teams, who help me understand concepts better. These open-ended Q&A sessions ensure I gain clarity at a foundational level.
Through this process, I have realised that being accurate matters more than being fast.
What role do your colleagues and team members play in your success at GCX?
My team plays a significant role in my growth. They patiently explain why things are done in a specific way and always address my queries. In fact, they encourage me to ask questions, reminding me that “no question is a silly question.” This support is invaluable, especially in pricing, where a deep understanding of concepts develops through communication and experience.
Are there any mentors or individuals who have had a significant impact on your career here?
Meenesh Patel has been greatly supportive, guiding me through everything from understanding pricing as a function to improving my communication skills.
Atul Pednekar has helped me build strong foundational knowledge by bringing clarity to complex topics.
Lastly, Lorenzo Romano inspires me with his powerful leadership insights.
How has your role evolved since joining GCX, and how have you grown as a professional?
My role has evolved from simply understanding product components to understanding how they impact product pricing. I’ve developed the confidence to explain topics ranging from products to P&Ls to other teams. Today, my role involves more “customer-relevant analysis,” which has strengthened my overall business perspective.
What advice would you offer to new employees or those striving to excel in their careers at GCX?
- Be curious—ask questions, because clarity drives confidence.
- Build relationships across teams.
- Focus on accuracy, not just speed.
- Most importantly, stay open-minded: open to opportunities, open to guidance, and open to learning.
