Employee Spotlight #20: Grace Yeow – Director – Technical Consultant

“I’m proud of the role I’ve played in helping customers navigate complex transformation initiatives”.

1. Could you share some insights into your background and how you came to join GCX?

I’ve spent much of my career helping organisations navigate technology and connectivity challenges across global enterprise environments. Over the years, I developed a strong interest in understanding not just the technology itself, but also how it can be applied to solve business problems and deliver meaningful outcomes for customers. GCX appealed to me because of its entrepreneurial and nimble culture, the opportunity to make a direct impact, and the chance to deepen my experience in the security space alongside networking and managed services.

2. What motivates you in your role at GCX, and how do you maintain your inspiration?

What motivates me most is helping customers solve real business challenges. I enjoy bringing together different perspectives to develop solutions that are technically sound, commercially viable and operationally practical. I also enjoy engaging with our technology partners and learning about emerging capabilities and trends. The combination of continuous learning, collaboration and customer engagement keeps me inspired.

3. Is there a specific project or achievement at GCX that you are particularly proud of?

Rather than a single project, I’m proud of the role I’ve played in helping customers navigate complex transformation initiatives and contributing to the continued development of the Technical Consulting function. The most rewarding moments are often when customers express appreciation for the clarity, depth and completeness of our discussions. For me, that’s a strong indication that we’ve earned their trust and are delivering real value.

4. How do you approach challenges and overcome obstacles in your work?

I believe every challenge looks different depending on who’s experiencing it. That’s why I try to understand issues from multiple perspectives, whether it’s the customer, sales, product, legal, commercial or operational teams. Once there’s a shared understanding of the objective, solutions tend to become much clearer. I also believe that clear communication and transparency are essential to overcoming obstacles and keeping everyone aligned.

5. What role do your colleagues and team members play in your success at GCX?

Success is always a collective effort. The best customer outcomes come from strong collaboration across multiple teams and functions. I’m fortunate to work with colleagues who bring deep expertise and different perspectives, and that diversity of thought often helps us develop stronger solutions and make better decisions.

6. Are there any mentors or individuals who have had a significant impact on your career here?

I’ve been fortunate to work with leaders such as SoonYew Chong and Michael Hartmann, who have had a significant influence on my growth at GCX. They have consistently encouraged me to broaden my perspective, challenge assumptions and look at opportunities from multiple angles. Beyond that, I’ve learned a great deal from colleagues across the organisation, as some of the most valuable lessons come from collaborating with people who have different expertise and experiences.

7. How has your role evolved since joining GCX, and how have you grown as a professional?

Since joining GCX, my role has evolved beyond individual solution development to include a broader focus on shaping customer outcomes and supporting the continued evolution of the Technical Consulting function. Alongside customer engagements, I’ve become involved in business enablement initiatives, knowledge sharing and capability development efforts. This has broadened my perspective and enhanced my ability to connect technical, commercial and operational considerations into solutions that create lasting value for customers.

8. What advice would you offer to new employees or those striving to excel in their careers at GCX?

Stay curious, keep learning and don’t limit yourself to your immediate area of expertise. Take the time to understand how different parts of the business work and build relationships across teams. Most importantly, listen carefully—to customers, partners and colleagues. Strong communication, empathy and a willingness to understand different perspectives will help you create value and build trust throughout your career.
